Mr Alasdair Beaton
Alasdair Beaton is the chairman of the Link Community Development board. Alasdair joined the board in 2014, following a 43 career in aviation as a pilot. With considerable experience in marketing and a being a knowledgeable decision-maker, Alasdair is passionate about pursuing education as a means of development in sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular interest in supporting women in their local communities.
Professor Martyn Roebuck
Professor Martyn Roebuck is the former chairman of the Link Community Development board. Martyn has 24 years’ experience in inspection services in Scotland and Malawi, and is an expert in educational improvement. With extensive experience in the management of educational change, including the introduction of new technologies into learning and teaching, Martyn has given expert advice to various Government Departments, the European Union, and the British Council.
Mr Mark Beaumont
Mark qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Edinburgh in 1986. For much of his professional career, he has worked in the NHS and in the Finance departments of both Bank of Scotland and Royal Bank of Scotland. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. Mark became Chair of the Financial Committee in 2013 once joining the newly formed Link Community Development International board in the same year. Mark is a keen cyclist and has ridden to raise money for Link in both Malawi and Scotland.
Mr Roger Cunningham
Roger joined the board in June 2016. As a former Senior Education Adviser with DFID in India, Pakistan and the Caribbean and a National Expert to the European Commission as Education Adviser Southern Africa, he brings considerable knowledge and experience to the Link Community Development International board.
Ms Susan Dalgety
Susan is an independent communications advisor, writer and facilitator. She has experience as the Chief Press Officer for Lord McConnell of Glenscorrdale during his stint as First Minister of Scotland, working in President Obama’s campaign in 2008 and 2012 and working with a variety of other organisations, including charities. With specialities in PR, international development and gender, Susan is a valuable asset to the organisation.
Dr Gari Donn
Gari has extensive experience in the field of education having taught BSc (Hons) and MSc programmes at the University of Edinburgh in the field of the Sociology of Education and International Education. Having worked with Ministers of Education throughout the Commonwealth through the Higher Education Desk of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Gari is now active in the United Nations Association as a convenor representing Scotland on the UNA UK Board of Governors. Gari has valuable knowledge and skills that are advantageous for Link.
Ms Judith Wilson
Judith was inducted onto the board in 2015, bringing with her 25 years’ experience of delivering successful events to both the public and private sector. Having worked with a variety of non-for-profit organisations, Judith brings a wealth of fundraising expertise to our organisation.
Ms Elaine Graham
Elaine is a Senior Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1985, Elaine is a vastly experienced and valuable member of the Link board.
Mr Chris O'Brien
Chris joined the board in December 2016, bringing vast experience of networking, project management and leadership to Link Community Development International. As the chair of the Income Generation Committee, Chris is helping Link to generate new contacts and seek funding opportunities to increase our impact across sub-Saharan Africa.
Mr Tom McMorrow
Tom became a member of the board in 2016. As a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and a qualified lawyer, Tom brings extensive experience to Link. With a lot of charity experience, Tom has a track record of raising unrestricted funds.
Ms Seonaid Crosby
Seonaid is a member of the Institute of chartered Accountants of Scotland qualifying with PwC in 2013 and currently working within the Scottish Futures Trust’s (SFT) Education team where she is involved in the Early Learning and Childcare expansion programme.
Mr Fergus Mackintosh
Fergus is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with 28 years’ experience in UK and International property and finance. His most recent role was Head of Real Estate, Africa for the Standard Bank Group, managing the Bank’s lending and investment business across the African continent.
Mr Richard Santandreu
Richard is an experienced IT professional and businessman. Richard has a wide range of charitable interests.
